Nike's Fashion Victims
The picture is of a boy with a Nike brand branded on his face, the artist exaggerates the symbol to get his message clearly through. I have inferred from the picture that the boy must really likes Nike, from first glance. But looking deeper through the message I have concluded that the boy must work for Nike because he was branded like a farmer does to his pigs. The message of this picture could be about Nike's popularity amongst the people and the terrible conditions the Nike workers go through.
Another message from the picture could be the price of Nike, an arm and a leg, but instead for him he was branded by Nike. The picture was very persuasive because a good piece of writing gets a healthy following and I followed immediately. The message is important because Nike's exterior is glamorous and the interior is full of underpaid workers, people the product for what its worth being selfish not paying their workers more, when they know they are able. The artist's message was exaggerated by carving the sign into the boys face instead of getting something simple like a tattoo, which tells me he or someone else inflected the painful Nike brand onto his face, that tells me something bad about Nike.
Nike would be a perfect example of Fashion Victims; a person who wears popular labels to be relevant, everyone just wants to belong. The artist point of view is that he is against Nike, he went as far to carve Nike into a man's face is the figurative way of saying how severe the price is for Nike. He has brought awareness to Nike in a non glamorous light and we can all see that its not sunshine and rainbows to understand the price of Nikes.
